Nick Barratt, Founder
Nick has been using behavioural science to help individuals, families and organisations achieve their goals since 1999. He is a UKBA(cert), BCBA, and has an MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis.
Nick has delivered Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) in social care settings at the individual, service and organisation level. Previously, he worked for one of the largest adult social care providers in the UK: in addition to managing a team of Behaviour Consultants and leading on policy and practice in PBS, he played a key role in the national roll out of Setting-Wide PBS. Nick works with typically developing and neurodivergent individuals of all ages, and has a particular interest in using habit-based approaches to improve the implementation of PBS and enhance well-being.
Nick has been supervising behaviour-analytic practitioners since 2008. His clients include qualified and trainee behaviour analysts, and those who simply want to develop their professional practice. In addition to helping practitioners acquire competencies typically associated with the delivery of ABA and PBS, Nick also works with supervisees on the development of related skills, such as managing others, communicating effectively in professional contexts, caseload management, and achieving a good work-life balance.
Nick is involved with several organisations which aim to improve the quality of behavioural services in the UK. He is a member of the Positive Behavioural Support Academy and the Sharland Foundation Developmental Disabilities Applied Behavioural Research and Impact Network (SF-DDARIN), and was part of the working group that developed the first PBS Competence Framework. He chairs the Applied Behaviour Analysis Forum, which he co-founded in 2008, and served on the board of the UK Society for Behaviour Analysis between 2015 and 2023.
In 2014, Nick co-authored Feeling Cross and Sorting it Out, which focuses on the interactional nature of challenging behaviour.
Nick is on the register of the UK Society for Behaviour Analysis, which has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
